Corporate structure explained
The corporate structure of a company can cover a number of elements. Primarily, the corporate structure relates to the actual configuration of a company, or the type of company entity that the company becomes. This will influence the legal obligations of the company, how the company is licensed to conduct business and the characteristics of the company. For example, a company can be configured as a Private Limited Company, a Public Limited Company or a Limited Liability Company. The corporate structure selected for your company will influence how that company will administer its operations.
In addition to the above, corporate structure relates to the internal structure of the company. This includes the specific departmental structure of the company, if applicable, along with the hierarchy of positions. Many large companies tend to have a similar corporate structure which usually includes a finance department, IT department and marketing department, amongst others.
Adopting the right corporate structure for your company will depend upon the services being offered by your company, the size of your company and what you wish to achieve from your specific structure.
