A Certificate of Incorporation is the name and title of the legal document that is filed in most states when creating a corporation or company. The Certificate of Incorporation is also known as a Corporate Charter, or the Articles of Incorporation, and is a license to clarify the registration of a corporation that is issued by the state government. The Certificate of Incorporation is an alternative name in the United States to the Articles of Incorporation. While in the United Kingdom, the Certificate of Incorporation is the formal name of the document given when confirming a companies registration.
